At Welder Corps™, we use industry-generated curriculum from the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) to prepare our graduates for the world of work. Our focus is to provide industry-relevant skills to ensure you are job-ready when you complete our program. Once you complete this training, you will be prepared for an entry-level welding job nearly anywhere in the Country.

basic overview
Our primary focus is hands-on learning and practical application to be job-ready. Participants will learn how to set-up, safely operate and stow equipment. At the completion of each unit, a small project will be created to take home. During the final (Capstone) unit, a set of blueprints will be interpreted in order to fabricate a culmination project. Additionally, opportunities to earn welding qualifications will be provided per American Welding Society (AWS) codes.
We provide relevant NCCER book(s) to check-out of our library while you are enrolled in a unit. (You may purchase these books if you are interested but we will provide all necessary texts.) As a group, we will discuss written materials and PowerPoints. Participants are expected to read relevant modules and complete learning assessments at home.
NCCER Credentials
Written tests will be completed electronically in our classroom under the supervision of one of our instructors. Successful completion of an NCCER module is 70% or better to demonstrate minimum proficiency. If a participant does not meet this requirement, they need to wait a minimum of 48 before retesting.
All performance profiles will be completed in person under the supervision of an NCCER certified instructor. Once both the written test and performance profile are completed for any NCCER module, it will appear on the www.nccer.org website and can be verified by a potential employer. [Note: Absolutely NO personal information is shared on this platform. ONLY full name, NCCER number and successful NCCER completions are listed.]
Also, NCCER does not require any age minimum so please contact us if you have a mature youngster who is ready to start gaining life skills and be job-ready.

core: introduction to basic construction skills
The NCCER Core prepares individuals for entry-level positions on project sites by providing the basics in safety, hand and power tools, construction math, materials handling, construction drawings, as well as communication and employability skills.
This competency-based program can be used as a pre-apprenticeship program and is recognized throughout the country by the construction industry. The knowledge and skills established in Core are the foundations that successful construction careers are built on.
Once participants pass all eight NCCER Core modules (written test & hands-on performance profile), they will be issued an NCCER wallet card that never expires.
welding
NCCER aligns with the American Welding Society’s Schools Excelling through National Skills Education (SENSE) Entry Welder program with Levels 1 and 2 of its Welding curricula. This curriculum supports the key learning indicators and performance accreditation tasks required to complete the current SENSE program and is also available in Spanish. (Please note: At this time, classes will not be taught in Spanish. Books in Spanish will be available for purchase.)
The four-level Welding curriculum also complies with the U.S. Department of Labor’s standards for apprenticeship programs.
